Naked

Here I stand naked to the universe
Unclothed without embarrassment
My mind is open without guard

All illusions have been stripped
Disintegration is complete
Breathing deeply of freedoms air

Though my heart bleeds
You can see that it still beats
Getting stronger by the moment

I was broken and in desperate need
Now I stand ready with armored truth
No longer whipped by those who harm

My soul has become peaceful
No regrets or blemishes upon it
As a warm blanket serenity settles in

As a new lea- I tremble with life
Awaiting the rain of questions
Though answers may not be had

I do not flinch from what may be coming
Though my skin is bare and may bleed
I stand strong for a new cycle in life

Heroes Need Not Apply

Heroes do not exist-at least not in life
Promises are made but never fulfilled
Dreams are just that-dreams

He stood before me this self proclaimed hero
Only to crumble before me as danger neared
Leaving me to face the darkness-alone

Leaving deep wounds which seep and will not heal
Gangrene takes over on infected limbs which need to be cut
Crippling one in more ways than just in the heart

Such a fool he found in me-an idiot!
A believer in fantasy and romantic liaison
Following the stars streaking across the sky

Heroes need not apply-not anymore
Too much blood is shed from wicked wounds
It hurts too much when they walk away

Shooting Stars

Tails of light painting trails
Streaking across velvet skies
Chrystal beams reflecting sunlight
Captured within its dust

Whispers of hope and dreams
Accompany these shooting stars
Wishful thinking from those below
As the full moon lights the way

Promises made to a chosen few
His hand touching those selected stars
Fulfillment comes in rare forms
Unexpected by those so blessed

Yet with the passing of time
A star explodes then is revived
Awakening dreams long forgotten
Flushing out desires-wants

Hinges are blown off celestial doors
Windows to the heavens opened wide
Sound traveling just behind the light
Giving the needed breath for life

The heavens are filled with such stars
Shooting across the darkened skies
All reaching destinies unknown
As a phoenix reborn

Sunday Blues

It’s Sunday morning baby
I am sitting out on the patio
The morning paper is open
The tea is on the table

You have been away for awhile
The days are starting to grow long
I grow weary of the waiting
The blues are hitting me hard

My days are always busy
This you know well enough
However you are with me
In the quiet moments of each day

The loneliness is difficult
My heart hurts from the pain
Relief is felt only
When I remember how we are

Yes baby, it’s Sunday morning
Another week has gone by
The tea is getting cold
As I sing the blues today

FREEDOM

FREEDOM

THATS WHAT YOU GET

WHEN YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR BELIEFS

WHEN YOU FIGHT TO BE ABLE TO SURVIVE

FREEDOM

TO BE ABLE TO WALK WITHOUT FEAR

WITH YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH

PROUD TO BE WHO YOU ARE

FREEDOM

TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE FREELY

WITHOUT FEAR OF REPRISAL

TO VOICE YOUR OPINIONS

FREEDOM

TO COME HOME AND SEE YOUR CHILDREN

SOUND ASLEEP IN THEIR BEDS SAFE

YOUR WIFE OR HUSBAND HOME

FREEDOM

IS PEACE WITH OUT ROCKETS IN THE AIR

NO BLOOD ON THE GROUND

AIR CLEAN AND CLEAR

FREEDOM

NEVER FORGET THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY

IT IS NEVER FREE

THE COST IS HIGH AND MUST BE PAID

FREEDOM

IS A DREAM THAT MANY HAVE

NOT ALL OF US ARE LUCKY

SOME FIGHT FOR THIS STILL

FREEDOM…SOMEDAY PEACE!

*this is a piece which has been commented on quite a bit.  today's news regarding internet control and freedom of expression has prompted me to post here.  our freedom is taken for granted by many.  we need to keep fighting here at home or we will be taken from within our own country.

Days Before Summer

In these last few days before the start of summer

I have thought about what I have lost

The most precious of these losses –at least for me

Has been the loss of time-precious time

I often wonder if I had done something different

If maybe I had said something with more wit or intelligence

If I had declared my feelings with more fervor-more passion

Would things have been different or maybe it would not have mattered

On cold winters evenings or in the coolness of the spring nights

These thoughts have stayed with me-like snowflakes which will not melt

Eventually these thoughts formed frozen ice balls-icicles

This with time would start to melt drop by drop

Each drop contained a memory-a smile-a sigh-emotions

These are things that will never leave me

They are treasures beyond any monetary value

Yet with the passing of time-they will slowly fade

These thoughts have piles one on top of the other

Leaf after leaf forming a unique book containing puzzles

Some I have solved through the years while others still need answers

I have no idea if any of those will ever find answers

Time is slowly running out on me-I feel this deeply

In the last few days before the start of summer

I have sat inside a clear glass ball and watched

As the world around me told me of its stories

Shopping List

Off to the supermarket in my little royal blue coupe

Searching out and parking in the most roomy of spaces

Making sure that there was no one close

Out I hop with my keys in hand, purse and list

Grabbing that cart and checking to see if it’s clean

Now I can place my handbag where the child would be

Placing my Bluetooth in its comfy place

Making sure the mobile is handy, just in case!

Stepping through those clean glass sliding doors

The coolness within greets me mingling with the fresh scents

Placing my sunglasses upon my head, allowing my eyes to adjust

Looking around, taking a deep breath, off I go to the first aisle

First I hit the paper aisle-need to have tissues and toilettes

Second aisle is the wine, followed by the aisle with cheeses

Third aisle, well let me see, that would be the oils and scented candles

We must not forget to get the matches so they can be lit and warmed!

Let’s see now, oh yes, next is the dairy aisle!

Ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream-yummy!

I must not forget-swinging over to the fruit section

Strawberries, bananas, grapes and, yes, some carrots

Now I must hurry and off to the butcher section

Time to pick out the meat of which I desire

Some steak, rump roast and hot dogs of course!

Making sure that they are as fresh as could be

I almost forgot to check the hair and eye colors

I have to make sure that the smile is pearly white

His laughter has to be wholesome as well

Not that it matters much as long as all else functions

Finally I checked my list-went through it twice

Yes all is here and I am ready to check out

Standing in line-waiting my turn

He has actually made me blush!

As I start to leave the store-out of the cart he jumps

He takes my keys-unloads the cart-then proceeds to open my door

A silly smile upon my face as I watched him seat himself next to me

With a knowing smile he tweaks my nose-leaving me even redder!

With a satisfied sigh and a wide grin

Happily I maneuver my little royal blue coupe home

Upon arrival he steps out and brings in the toys

As with a devilish grin I head toward the boudoir
